Bomb explosion claims lives in Zamfara
There was tension along the Gusau-Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara state as a bomb exploded and claimed lives of people and caused injuries to many.
The explosive device was reportedly planted by bandits, detonated on a busy section of the road.
This was disclosed by Zagazola Makama, a Lake Chad Basin counterterrorism and insurgency expert, in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday.
According to Makama, the incident, which is the second bomb explosion on the route, signals a dangerous shift in the tactics employed by bandits operating in Zamfara.
He stated that the use of explosives introduces a new level of insecurity in the region.
“Traditionally known for their activities such as kidnapping, cattle rustling, and armed attacks, the use of explosives introduces a new level of insecurity in the region,” the security expert noted.
