FUTA student sets world record for longest speech marathon
Christopher Olusa, a postgraduate student of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, has set a new record of 112 hours and 12 minutes for the longest speech marathon.
Olusa broke the record of 90 hours and two minutes held by a Nepali, Ananta Ram, from the 27th to the 31st of August 2018.
Olusa had set out to hit 120 hours, but he could not hit the target.
The 24-year-old started the speech marathon from 2 a.m. local time on Monday, September 11, 2023, to 6 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023.
In a tweet shared by FUTA’s official handle on X, it stated that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adenike Oladiji, and a team from FUTA were present to support Olusa’s “remarkable quest to set a record for the longest speech marathon by an individual.”
News Nesus gathers that the Guinness World Records had given the FUTA student the go-ahead to embark on the world record event, tagged “From words to world records,” according to Olusa.
Although the GWR had not confirmed the record as of the time of writing this report, Olusa seems set to put the name of the institution on the world record.
