
Multiple road accident claims 10 lives in Oyo
About 10 people were reportedly feared killed in an accident that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Oyo State on Tuesday morning.
The accident involved three Nissan Micra taxi cabs and three articulated vehicles, popularly called trailer.
A report said all the ill-fated vehicles were coming from the Iwo Road area before getting involved in the accident.
Rosemary Alo, the State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the accident in Ibadan, the state capital.
She said, “The accident involved seven vehicles. Four were killed while one is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.”
Alo urged the drivers to always take precautions of defensive driving while on the road.
“The injured victims were rescued by the Sanyo Police Station while the corpse was deposited at the Adeoyo morgue, Ring Road, Ibadan. Others victims who didn’t sustain injury found their way to their destinations.
“Meanwhile, Sanyo Police DTO, Oluwole Adesina, has taken charge of the accidented vehicle, while one of the corpses was handed over to the relative with the express permission of the Divisional Police Officer,” the sector commander confirmed.
