Toyin Akinkuotu, ex-Ondo head of service, dies at 66
Barrister Oluwatoyin Akinkuotu, former Ondo State Head of Service, has died. He was 66 years old.
Alhaji Dr. Akinkunmi M.A., his personal secretary, confirmed his passing in a statement shared with the press.
The statement read: “With a heavy heart, we announce the demise of our beloved brother, the brain behind Lujama Heritage, the former Head of Service in person of Bar. Toyin Akinkuotu today, 11th September 2025.
“His legacy and contributions to Ondo State Government and the Ondos will forever be remembered and cherished. May the good Lord grant him eternal rest,” the statement read.
He was the head of service from 2013 to 2019. Born in 1959, Akinkuotu attended Saint Joseph’s College, Ondo, and Adeyeri Grammar School, Owo, where he graduated in 1977.
In 1984, he graduated with First Class Honors in Political Science and Administration from the University of Maiduguri and obtained a Master’s in Public Administration in 1988 from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
An Executive member of the Lions club, Akinkuotu, bagged a Bachelor of Law degree in 1997 and graduated from law school in 1999. He added a LLM (Master of Laws) to it from OAU and a PhD in public policy and administration from Walden University in 2020.
He was a member of notable professional bodies, among them are Nigerian Institute of Management, Nigeria Bar Association, the International Bar Association, Fellow, Institute of Public Administration, the Institute of Corporate Administration and the Institute of Finance and Control of Nigeria.
He became a Director in the State’s Civil Service in 2000.
