EFCC raids Dangote Group Head Office

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, stormed the Head Office of the Dangote Group in Lagos.

Officials of the anti-graft agency were searching for forex allocations to the company during the tenure of the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele

A source however revealed that the EFCC is probing the foreign exchange allocations made to about 52 companies, including Dangote Plc.

“The commission (EFCC) is investigating Dangote Plc and about 51 other big companies. The commission discovered that the allocations were not approved by former President Muhammadu Buhari,” the source claimed.

Dele Oyewale, spokesperson for the EFCC, confirmed the presence of the anti-graft operatives at the location. He, however, declined comments on the development.

“I can confirm that our men are there, but I can’t comment on the reason for their presence there,” Oyewale said.

Also, a Dangote employee confirmed that EFCC operatives were at the company’s head office.

“They asked for documents on forex transactions with the CBN,” the employee said.
