Ganduje, APC National Chairman, resigns, cites health reasons

Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has reportedly resigned from his position.

The former Governor of Kano State cited health reasons for his decision, stating that he needs to focus on his well-being.

In a post by Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Ganduje’s resignation is with immediate effect.

Ahmad wrote: “The National Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has resigned from his position, effective immediately, as confirmed by multiple sources.”

Following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the chairman of the APC, Ganduje was appointed the new chairman of the party in August 2023.

His emergence stirred controversy at the time, with many in the North Central region—traditionally seen as the rightful zone for the party chairmanship—voicing their displeasure.

Social media has since been agog as supporters of Ganduje and the opposition, especially members of the Kwankwasiyya movement, are having a field day.
