Gunmen abduct students in Delta
Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have reportedly kidnapped an unconfirmed number of students traveling along the East-West in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Reports said that the students were in a Toyota Sienna vehicle when they were abducted while coming from Calabar at the Evwreni axis of the East-West Road on Friday.
According to a source, the Sienna conveying the group of students coming from Calabar in Cross River State was hijacked on Friday night within the Evwreni axis, and the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N10 million.
It would be recalled that on February 24, eight persons who were returning from Benin City, Edo State, to Yenagoa were kidnapped from a Coaster Bus along Ughelli-Patani road, Ughelli North, by unknown gunmen, after which three females and one male were released.
Police officers from Ughelli A’ division have visited the scene of the crime, though it cannot be ascertained if the other three persons were rescued or released on a later date.
SP Edafe Bright, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, when contacted, replied and said, “Not aware yet.”
