
Gunmen attack POS operators in Imo, kill four
At least four people were reportedly killed when gunmen struck at the Ohii junction located on the Owerri-Orlu Road in Imo State on Monday.
Sources said that two of the victims were policemen on duty in the area.
A video clip circulating on various social media platforms shows the lifeless bodies of the victims.
Anyaeri Bright, who shared a video clip of the incident on Facebook, confirmed that two policemen and two civilians lost their lives in the attack.
The fleeing gunmen were said to have opened fire at the junction, which claimed the lives of the victims.
As of the time of filing this report, the reason for the attack had yet to be ascertained.
This is even as some point-of-sale operators were attacked and money was dispossessed in parts of Owerri on Monday.
Presh Iheanacho, a resident of the vicinity, said, “Earlier today, around 9 a.m., some armed men in a Corolla vehicle attacked some POS shops and passersby just before Rapour Junction. Disposing them of cash and valuables.”
Iheanacho also disclosed that around 8 a.m. on Monday, some criminals stormed Christiana Junction on Egbu Road and robbed POS operators.
Another resident, Ikechukwu Eze, disclosed that some POS operators were robbed in the Amawire area of Orji on Owerri-Okigwe Road.
When contacted, Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the police in the state, said he was yet to be informed.
