
18-year-old slits husband’s throat in Kano
Operatives of the Kano State Police Command have arrested an 18-year-old woman, Saudat Jibril, for allegedly killing her husband, Salisu Idris.
Saudat was accused of slitting her husband’s throat with a sharp knife in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to a statement signed by Abdullahi Kiyawa, State’s police spokesman, the incident occurred at about 12:35 a.m. in Farawa Quarters, Kano.
“The suspect, Saudat Jibril, an 18-year-old female of Farawa Quarters, allegedly cut off the throat of her husband, Salisu Idris, a 30-year-old male, with a sharp knife,” the statement reads.
Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, swiftly deployed a team of detectives to the scene. It was stated that the victim was rushed to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.
The police said the suspect has been apprehended and is currently in custody at the State’s Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, and will be charged to court for the offence of culpable homicide.
Bakori, the Commissioner, reiterated that criminal acts would not be tolerated in the state, as he assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to ensure justice is served.
