Oyo Gov renames Polytechnic Ibadan after ex-governor, Olunloyo

Seyi Makinde, Oyo State Governor, has renamed the Polytechnic Ibadan after Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, a former governor of the state.

The governor announced the Institution’s new name on Thursday.

Dr. Olunloyo was the governor of old Oyo State between October and December 1983.

He was the first indigene of Ibadan to serve as the governor of the state.

Olunloyo, who also served as rector of the Polytechnic, died on April 6, 2025.

Governor Makinde, while speaking on Thursday, noted that the institution is to be called Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic, Ibadan.

According to him, he made the change to honour the former governor.

Makinde asserted at the state burial ceremony held for the late governor.
