Court grants Emefiele N300m bail

A High Court sitting in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has granted bail to former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.

He was granted bail in the sum of N300 million.

Justice Hamza Muazu, who made the ruling on Wednesday, held that Emefiele should produce two sureties, who must have landed property in the Maitama District of the FCT.

Having been remanded at Kuje Prison last week, the former CBN governor was not available in court during today’s proceedings,

Another High Court, also in the FCT, had two weeks ago ordered his release in a fundamental human rights suit which he instituted against the federal government.

The court adjourned till November 28 for the commencement of trial.
