Female banker commits suicide in Lagos
A 32-year-old female banker with one of the new generation banks in Lagos has taken her own life over what she described as work-life difficulties in a note she left behind.
Findings gathered by News Nexus revealed that the incident happened within the premises of the bank.
Identified as Amarachi Ugochukwu, the lady reportedly drank an insecticide in the company’s restroom without the knowledge of her colleagues.
In the suicide note she left, she blamed her action on falling short at work and a hard economy.
The note reads, “Nothing is working in my life. My figures are low. My brain is clogged up. The economy is getting harder. My decisions are wrong. My mind is messed up. The future doesn’t seem bright at all. I see extreme hardship. I can’t bear the pain anymore.”
In addition, she apologised to her parents and other members of her family who would be affected by her action.
“I’m sorry, mum, I’m sorry, dad, I’m sorry, Nene, Okwe, Toto, Nazor, Chuchu, and Ifunanya. Dear Lord, have mercy on me.” She concluded in the note she left.
Calls to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, went unanswered, and a text message sent was not replied to.
