Arise Congress kicks off in Lagos

The Arise Congress of the Nigerian Baptist Convention has kicked off as scheduled.

Described as the first of its kind, more than 20,000 youths are expected to converge on the Baptist International Convention Centre, Lufuwape at the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

In a press conference, the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji, expressed that the congress was to have a heart-to-heart conversation with the youths, as well as serve as a symbolic handover of the church and its various institutions to the youths.

Notable guests expected at the congress include Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Citadel Global Community Church, Dr. Sarah Alade, and Dunsin Oyekan, among others. Other invited personalities in the Nigerian Baptist Convention fold include: Dickson Madoghwe, Matthew Awujoola, Israel Kristilere, Alhamdu Tukurah, Philip Oyewale, and Olawuyi James, among others.

Declaring the session open, the Director, Youth and Student Ministries of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Rev. Dr. James Olawuyi who is also the host, welcomed participants and assured them that their expectations would be met.

Participants are drawn from Nigeria, Africa, and beyond. The programme is also being streamed for the benefit of virtual participants.

The programme holds from six to nine September, 2023.
