Edo 2024: Deputy Governor Shuaibu joins guber race

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shuaibu has announced his intention to run for governor on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2024 election.

Shuaibu, who made his announcement at the Bishop Kelly Centre in Benin, said he is a homeboy who understands the people’s plight and urged the electorate and party members to support his desire.

He said that after 30 years in politics and seven years of working with Governor Godwin Obaseki to rebuild the state, he was in the best position to succeed his principal.

“Nobody can stop my ambition,” he declared.

He stated this on Monday during a live broadcast in which he declared his intention to run for governor of Edo State.

The date of the election had previously been confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as September 21, 2024.
