One electrocuted, two others arrested for cable theft in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the electrocution of a yet-to-be-identified person in the Day Waterman area along the Kobape area of the state.

According to the police, the yet-to-be-identified man was cutting the cable that belongs to the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) when the incident happened.

A staff of the IBEDC at the Owode Egba branch was said to have reported the matter to the police.

Omolola Odutola, the Public Relations Officer of the command, confirmed the incident, saying that the “corpse has been taken to the Ogun State Teaching Hospital Sagamu for autopsy.”

Likewise, two casual staff members of the Quantum Packaging Company, Igbesa, were arrested for allegedly stealing a cable suspected to belong to the company.

According to sources, the suspects were first apprehended by Okoi Akilepo, the Chief Security Officer of the company, who was on a patrol at the time, before they were handed over to the police.

Odutola also confirmed that both suspects had confessed to the crime.
