Police arrest man, 43, for allegedly stabbing wife to death while asleep

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man for allegedly stabbing his wife to death.

DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, revealed this in an incident report shared with newsmen.

“On 4/1/2024 at about 0448 hrs, a distress call was received by ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Damaturu, that one Abubakar Musa, ‘M’ 43yrs of New Housing Estate, Bye-pass, Maiduguri Road, Damaturu, while sleeping on the same bed with his wife, Ammi Adamu Mamman, ‘F’ 42yrs, was stabbed with an object on her neck, causing a deep cut that resulted in heavy bleeding and led to her death.

“The husband was arrested for interrogation,” the report read.

According to the incident report, findings revealed that both the victim and the suspect are staff of Yobe State University (YSU), Damaturu.

He added that the homicide unit of the State CID has commenced an investigation immediately.

The State Command, however, urged community members to cooperate with the police by giving credible information concerning the incident so that justice would be served and deter future occurrences.
