Super Eagles progress to round of 16 after edging Guinea-Bissau 1-0
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations after pipping Guinea Bissau 1-0 on Monday. With this result, the Super Eagles finished in second place in Group A with seven points, behind Equatorial Guinea, whose 4-0 humiliation of hosts Ivory Coast left them with a far better goal difference and emerged as the winner in the group.
After their initial 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea in their opening game, The Eagles have since been efficient if not spectacular, defeating the Ivorians 1-0 with a William Troost-Ekong penalty before this result.
