NAHCON slashes Hajj fares, payment deadline December 5, 2026

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has announced a downward review of the 2026 Hajj fares for intending pilgrims nationwide, reflecting significant reductions from the 2025 rates.

According to details released by the Commission, pilgrims from the Borno and Adamawa zones will now pay ₦7,579,020.96 compared to ₦8,327,125.59 in 2025 — a reduction of ₦748,104.63.

In the same way, intending pilgrims from the Northern Zone will pay ₦7,696,769.76, representing a decrease of ₦760,915.83 from the previous year’s ₦8,457,685.59.

For the Southern Zone, the revised fare for 2026 is ₦7,991,141.76, down by ₦792,943.83 from the 2025 fare of ₦8,784,085.59.

In a photo statement posted on X on Monday, NAHCON stated that the adjustments were made to make the pilgrimage more affordable for Nigerian Muslims ahead of the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The commission also “announced December 5, 2025, as the new payment deadline for all intending pilgrims.

“Intending pilgrims are advised to complete their payments on or before the stated deadline to ensure smooth processing and participation in the 2026 Hajj.

“For more information, NAHCON urged the public to visit its official website: www.nahcon.gov.ng,” it noted.

Earlier in October, President Bola Tinubu, through his Deputy Chief of Staff, Sen. Ibrahim Hadeija, directed NAHCON to immediately reduce the cost of the 2026 Hajj fares that it had recently announced.

A month before that, in September, the agency had announced its approved fares for the 2026 Hajj.
