Paystack suspends co-founder, Ezra Olubi, over alleged sexual misconduct

Paystack has suspended its co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Ezra Olubi, following a public allegation of sexual misconduct involving a subordinate.

Paystack is a Nigerian payments technology company owned by Stripe.

The company confirmed the immediate suspension on Friday, stating that a formal investigation into the matter is now underway.

The allegation surfaced and began circulating widely on social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), on November 12, 2025.

In a statement, the company acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and its response to the allegation.

“Paystack is aware of the allegations involving our co-founder, Ezra Olubi,” the company said. “We take matters of this nature extremely seriously. Effective immediately, Ezra has been suspended from all duties and responsibilities pending the outcome of a formal investigation.”

The company stated that it will not comment further until the review process, which is guided by internal policies and values, is complete.

The public scrutiny of Olubi intensified following the renewed circulation of dozens of his past social media posts, dating between 2009 and 2013.

These tweets, posted years before Paystack’s founding in 2015, contain sexually explicit jokes, references to co-workers, and comments involving minors.

One highly circulated tweet from May 2011 encouraged inappropriate touching of a co-worker. The resurfacing of these decade-old posts has added pressure on Paystack to demonstrate adherence to its public commitments to maintaining a respectful and safe workplace.

Olubi has not publicly addressed either the current allegation or the resurfaced historical tweets. His X account was deactivated on November 13, 2025.
