Police IG orders Lagos CP to probe Mohbad’s death

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has instructed the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, to initiate a quick and comprehensive investigation into the passing of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, made this known in a late Saturday night official correspondence.

Adejobi said, “The acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has issued a direct and urgent directive to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, instructing him to initiate a swift and comprehensive investigation into the tragic passing of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.

This directive comes two days after the police gave an assurance of their commitment to do a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances behind the 27-year-old’s death on Tuesday evening.

The Afrobeats singer, popular for his hit ‘KPK (Ko Por Ke)’, was signed to Marlian Records until his exit in 2022 to start his own record label, Imolenization.

In a swift response, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Idowu Owohunwa, has directed the commencement of a full-scale criminal investigation into the case.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, made this known on Saturday evening.

According to Hundeyin, “To this end, the Commissioner of Police has constituted a Special Investigation Team within the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department to coordinate the investigation.

The Lagos State Police Command further made an appeal to the public to help the police with useful information.
