SuperSport will not televise AFCON 2023 – Multichoice
South Africa’s pay television channel, Multichoice, has confirmed that its SuperSport channels will not broadcast the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
This is because the broadcaster has not been ‘able to secure rights for the tournament’.
This comes following CAF’s decision to award New World TV exclusive rights for Sub-Saharan Africa.
In a statement on Wednesday, Multichoice confirmed that its SuperSport Channels won’t be broadcasting the tournament after it failed to secure TV rights.
However, the 2023 AFCON will be available on free-to-air (FTA) channels.
The 2023 AFCON is scheduled for January 13th to February 11th, 2024.
Ivory Coast is the host nation for the 2023 edition of the AFCON.
