Three arrested for killing NSCDC officer in Kano

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, have arrested three armed men allegedly responsible for killing an officer, AbduRauf A. Shariff, while trying to prevent a criminal act.

SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, Kano Command Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and said the 29-year-old officer was on duty at the Court Road outpost in Kano when the attack occurred.

According to him, the mob actions that came in numbers, carrying arms were undertaking their criminal dastardly act of phone snatching and other crimes when the officer attached to the Court Road outpost tried to stop them.

“Unfortunately, the criminals were carrying weapons, which they used to kill him after causing serious injuries on him”.

He said their men who arrived at the scene were able to arrest three of the criminals with their weapons, and they have already been taken into custody.

SC Abdullahi noted that the corps is working in conjunction with the police to track down other fleeing suspects who participated in the attack.

The officer, AbduRauf A. Shariff, has since been buried according to Islamic rites following medical examination.
